Our Stories Our Voices is a project by The Village Storytelling Centre that engages adults from Pollok and Glasgow South at storytelling workshops to share, listen and create stories. Currently we work with three different adult community groups in Pollok and Pollokshaws.

“When Voices Become Light” performance and exhibition gathers the participants’ stories on the theme of change. What do we understand by change? Do we like it? Can our experiences and creativity bring light to ourselves and others? These stories are centred around powerful personal changes: rebuilding life with hope, finding inner strength and confidence, moving places and the importance of connecting with a community.

The performance features live storytelling and songs. The exhibition of lanterns were handcrafted by the participants using paper maché techniques with tissue paper, glue and wire, where each lantern is a delicate fusión of light, form, and storytelling, carrying personal messages of change.
