The Village Storytelling centre hosts these new commissioned performances as part of the Scottish International Storytelling Festival 2025. Platforming the voices of Glasgow based artists from across the Scottish Storytelling scene these performances reflect the shifting, complex identity of Glasgow new and old:
What We Talk about When We Talk about Life – Scottish- Mauritian storyteller, Steph Morris, invites you to share in her personal experience of Glaswegian culture. ‘What We Talk about When We Talk about Life’ is an autobiographical show about love and loss, dreams and disappointments and the art of picking yourself back up and trying all over again. A warm, funny and thought provoking exploration of identity, with live music performed by Cit Lennox.
Three Voices: Stories in Glasgow- Join Peilin Shi, Josey-ann Green, and Liam Campbell, for an exciting new feature length storytelling performance about growing-up, moving-in, and getting-on in Glasgow. This performance brings together three emerging storytellers whose radically different styles and backgrounds create unique, surprising, creative, and highly entertaining collaborations. From intergenerational migration and multilingual folk ritual to Glaswegian humour and queer working-class heritage; expect laughs, tunes, sincere personal stories, and a few surprises along the way.

Community Sangs an’ Clatter

On Monday October 27th we’ll be on home turf as flagship storytelling night Sangs an’ Clatter returns to Pollok with stories, songs and tunes by a collection of tellers from across G53 and beyond in this FREE evening.

The Village Storytelling Centre’s flagship storytelling night comes to the Scottish International Storytelling Festival and welcomes storytellers from across the world. Featuring storyteller Hjörleifur Stefánsson from Iceland, music from the fantastic Irish singer-songwriter Mima Merrow and many more special guests.
Halloween Parade

Friday 31st October
On Friday October 31st we have our FREE community Halloween parade that’ll light up the skies over Greater Pollok and wend its way from St James’ Parish Church and finish at Crookston Castle. The castle will light up with installations and puppetry telling stories of ancient history and contemporary Glasgow. In the lead up to the event there’ll be local lantern making workshops across the community. Get dressed up and join the parade!

We’d love you and your family to join us here in the village on Wednesday 22nd and 29th of October, from 6pm to 8pm for a fun, hands-on workshop. Create beautiful light-up willow lanterns with your kids and young people in preparation for our Light Up the Night, Halloween Parade. All materials are provided—just bring your creativity and enjoy an evening of making together as we get closer to the big night!
