Tumshie is an experimental short film that explores the Chronicles of Rapunzel and its themes of objectification, consent and patriarchal control. Using 2D animation, performance to camera and sculpture, Tumshie endeavors to defy the narrow male narrative of this well-known fairytale by reconnecting the story to the female voice and, in doing so, reconnecting the genre with its original purpose: to instruct us on how to survive the patriarchy.
Our Digital Experiments are free and will be released to access on the festival website during the festival week.
