In Ireland, stories are a way of life-shaped, shared, and passed from one generation to the next.
Away to See a Man About a Dog is an intimate storytelling performance that explores family, memory, and the quiet art of telling things slant.
Drawing on personal and inherited stories from a large Irish family, this piece moves between rural childhoods, kitchen-table tales, and the rhythms of pub life, where humour and hardship sit side by side. Blending vivid storytelling with warmth and wit, it asks: what do our stories protect us from? and what do they keep alive? Rooted in oral tradition and rich in character, this is a celebration of storytelling as a living, communal act.
